Definitions: A rate of return defined as cash flow (either pre-tax or after tax income can be used) divided by total dollar investment (the initial cash outlay).

Formula: (CASH FLOW / Invested Capital) * 100

Tip: Remember, expenditures such as closing costs and loan origination costs are included in the total amount invested.
